Bison hunting applications available Friday

BOZEMAN (AP) — Applications for Montana’s upcoming bison hunt will be posted online Friday and will be available at Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks offices.

Wildlife officials recently approved issuing 44 state licenses for the bison season this winter. Of those, two will be available to each of eight American Indian tribes in Montana.

Wildlife commissioners said it’s possible that up to 100 additional state licenses will be issued, depending on the movement of bison out of Yellowstone National Park.

Three hunting periods are planned between Nov. 15 and Feb. 15.
