Old Style Days and July 4th parade schedule released

ARLEE - "Old Style Day" at the Arlee Powwow Grounds will be Thursday, July 2. The day will begin with a wake-up song followed by a camp crier. At noon, there will be a shinny game in the Arena. 2 p.m. will be for getting ready for the scalp dance - Esäuçni t noønø and esìeùsnwe. Scalp Dance - Yul will be at 3 p.m. with war dancing (intertribals) - Snãsëlìmncu. At 5:30 p.m will be the coffee dance - Snãuãawmn followed by Dinner break. A 7 p.m., war dancing - Snãsëlìmncu will resume followed by the smoking song - Snümscu. Gift dancing - Ânõnwe will be at 8:30 p.m. followed by more war dancing - Snãsëlìmncu. At 10 p.m., it’s home sweet home - Snpønmcu. A canvas dance (Snqaqaá) sing will follow.

On July 4th, there will be a parade through the town of Arlee. The categories for the July 4th parade will be: Grand Prize - Best of Parade; Best Dressed Man, Best Dressed Woman; Best Horseback Man; Best Horseback Woman; Best Dressed Boy; Best Dressed Girl; Best Dressed Tiny Tot; and Best Float. There will be prizes and a trophy for the grand prizewinner.
